- I began working for the Tribune in 1989 as a researcher/database enhancer for the Editorial Info Center. Wrote two articles for the Tempo section in 1992; that same year I left the Trib, temporarily, to try my luck as a freelancer. Rejoined the Trib in 1995 as a full time entertainment reporter for Exito!, back then the Tribune's Spanish-language weekly. As such, covered the film, music, media and theater beats. Was part of the transition team when Exito! was wiped off the face off the earth and turned into Hoy. In 2004, after the whole circulation fiasco and an entire reorganization of Hoy, I became their national entertainment editor, supervising entertainment coverage, the production of special sections and the launch of Fin de Semana across three markets (New York, Chicago and LA)

- www.cafemagazine.com is the website for Cafe Media, a multi-platform content company launched last May by Julian Posada, former general manager of Hoy-Chicago. Cafe provides culturally relevant content for acculturated English-dominant Latinos through a bimonthly magazine, its own website, social network sites, newsletters, events and very soon a mobile platform. Several former Tribsters, besides myself and Julian, form part of the Cafe team: Melissa Martinez, marketing and circulation manager (former marketing manager for Exito/Hoy); Alberto Trevino, art director (former graphic designer and photographer for Exito and Red Eye) and Marilia Gutierrez, managing editor (formerly with Tribune Interactive).
