TRIBUNE HISTORY
- Started as a national correspondent with the Los Angeles Times in 1976 and turned columnist after 17 years. My connection with a quite terrific organization was rudely terminated by the Tribune just shy of a very satisfying 30 years at and around First and Spring thanks most of all to Bill Thomas and that wild Murphy guy.

- Truthdig has been up and running for three and a half years with a fine staff including some excellent LA Times alums and you can check it all out on our about page at truthdig.com. I just checked Statcounter and as of today, May, 19, 2009 at 11:25 AM we have had 29,558,158 unique visitors. We pay, modestly, for all the work we run in an attempt to develop a responsible model of online journalism but resources are limited so only submit really good stuff for very low pay. The pay is low, about what large newspapers pay for syndicated material, but the exposure is good. Truthdig has won numerous awards, vincluding the Webby for best political blog.
